Participation and Voting Rights for Hypervisors

Participation and Voting Rights for Hypervisors

Member participation and voting status are tracked in the table below. Group members wishing to vote should enter their Name, Affiliation, and desired Role.

  • New Groups: No additional actions are required for initial participation and voting setup.

  • Existing Groups: If the table already has meeting columns, join the next meeting, introduce yourself to the chair/vice-chair, and express your intent to vote.

For each meeting, the group will add a column to record participation, titled with the meeting date (e.g., “Meeting Feb 29, 2024”), and update Voting Status afterward. Additional field and policy details are below the table.

This table should not include email addresses as it will be publicly viewable.

The voting policy is defined in the RISC-V Policies Procedures document.

Participant

  • Active contributor and voting member of the workgroup.

  • Voting status is tracked in the Voting Status column, and criteria for maintaining voting status are outlined below.

  • Obligations include attending meetings and voting on all Technical Committee questions, work item proposals, and drafts.

Notes:

  1. Single Voter Rule: Each entity (company/organization) can have only one voting member. Participants from the same entity should decide who will hold voting status.

  2. Individual Members: Individual participants can vote and represent themselves. However, if they work for a RISC-V member organization, they are treated as part of that entity.

Observer

  • Non-voting participant.

  • Registration is optional but ensures access to documents, meeting attendance, and the ability to submit comments.

Voting: Member is in good standing and eligible to vote.
Probation: Member cannot vote due to one of the following:

  • Initial criteria for voting not yet met.

  • Lost voting rights and not yet reinstated.
None/Blank: Member is either an Observer or a Participant but not the designated voter for their entity.

Voting rights may be removed per Section 2B, item #4 of the policy for:

  1. Inactivity: Missing 2 out of 3 consecutive meetings (in-person, virtual, or correspondence). Attending any meeting in a multi-meeting week counts for the entire week.

  2. Failure to Vote: Not voting on any Proposal, Stable, or Freeze Milestone ballots.
