Eligibility Criteria
Are there any specific qualifications or requirements for candidates
Yes, and the Call for Candidate (see template) must be explicit about it.
Do candidates need prior experience within the committee or organization?
No, no prior experience within the Technical Committee or Organization is required.
Nomination Process
How can someone submit their candidacy?
Applications will be held via this form.
Is there a nomination form or specific information candidates must provide?
Candidate’s name and affiliation;
Brief bio (under 300 chars);
Statement of intent (under 300 chars).
Can candidates be nominated by others, or is self-nomination required?
Candidates can be nominated by others, but only with their consent. For instance, if a candidate is facing a technical issue, they may ask another person to proceed with their nomination.
Campaigning Guidelines
Are candidates allowed to campaign or present their vision?
Yes.
Will there be a forum or platform where candidates can introduce themselves and share their plans?
No.
Voting Process
Who is eligible to vote?
Only RISC-V Members who are designated as Participants and Voters (with voting rights active at the time of the election) are eligible to vote for each Technical Committee running elections.
What voting method will be used (e.g., online ballot, email, in-person)?
We recommend online voting to accommodate different time zones. However, it is also possible to conduct the vote during a meeting, provided there is a proper quorum of voters. For assistance in managing the voting process, email help@riscv.org.
Will voting be anonymous?
Yes, if the vote is conducted online. No, if it takes place during a meeting.
Decision and Announcement
How will votes be counted and verified?
RISC-V Staff will manage the online voting process and share the results with the Technical Committee. For in-meeting voting, RISC-V Staff must be present to audit the procedure and validate the results.
When and how will the results be announced?
For online votes, results are available as soon as the two-week period is complete. For in-meeting votes, results are available immediately after the voting motion concludes.
Who will oversee the election process to ensure fairness?

Post-Election Transition
When do the newly elected Chairs and Vice-Chairs officially take office?
As soon as the election is done.
Will there be a transition period with outgoing leaders?
Newly elected Chairs may coordinate a transition period with the current Chairs.
Are there onboarding or training sessions for new leaders?
Yes, RISC-V Staff will help on this.

What happens in case of a tie?

Is there an appeal process if a candidate disputes the results?
Review the item 5 of the RISC-V Policies and raise an issue to help@riscv.org.
